The Nymph's Reply

Poems about love conjure up sweet images of romance and passion. In “The Passionate Shepherd to His Love” written by Christopher Marlowe and “The Nymph’s Reply to the Shepherd” written by Sir Walter Raleigh are poems about love, need and desire. The shepherd is willing to embellish his intended love with gifts, fine clothes and endless passion. However, the nymph is wondering is this true love and will it last. Both Marlowe and Raleigh use rhyme, imagery and tone to express love.
The author uses rhyme to create the flow. The first stanza of the poem reads, “Come live with me and be my love, and we will all the pleasures prove.” Again noted in “The Nymph’s Reply to the Shepherd” the beginning stanza reads, “If all the world and love were young, and truth in every shepherdâ...
