"Drug Testing Fair for Just Athletes?"

Student-athletes and students that participate in extracurricular activities should have to follow the same regulations. Just because a student plays either a varsity or junior varsity sport does not make him or her any more important or special than any other student in the school. The members of other extracurricular activities, besides sports, should have to all sign the same paperwork to participate in whatever they are doing.
In many high schools across the country, student-athletes are required to sign a contract saying that they will not use drugs, tobacco, or alcohol while in season. This contract also entitles the school to perform random drug tests on their athletes. To participate in the season, an athlete must sign this contract. Without signing, the athlete will not be able to play in contests or even practice.
