Working Parents and a Child's Education

The word “working” in describing parents doesn’t seem appropriate enough. All parents need to be more involved with their children’s education. It’s important to remember that we’re dealing with a continuum, in respect to the correlation of parents (working or not) and their involvement in their kids’ education. It is quite possible that a working parent is involved with their children’s education; non-working parents may not be involved at all. There is, however, a core responsibility that all parents need to assume for their children’s success in school, that is: the expectation to succeed in school.
I believe all parents need to set an expectation of success with their children. Far too many parents simply let the entire responsibility of the education of their kids fall on the school’s shoulders.
