Born for Liberty
Throughout history, women have shaped our social perceptions, our political ideals and our economical systems. Influencing many aspects of our every day lives, they were also judged and always had guidelines set for them as to what was acceptable of them in society. The definition of womanhood has changed drastically throughout the years, and is still changing today. As years pass by, women get more and more involved in our world.
After the Cold War, the expectation of women was centered around family life, as it had been before. However, the fashion changed profoundly. The look was now long dresses with defined and tightly belted waists. This look symbolized maturity and signified the transition from the male industrial labor market and emphasized the contrast of masculinity and femininity. Women were expected to balance family with community life and also exemplify the cultural image of femininity.
