Who is an African In the two prescribed articles (The idea of an ‘African’ identity ignores the facts) and (I am an African), it can be deduced that to many people, being an African is an “abstract†concept. The question may arise, “is there such a thing as a true Africanâ€? In my assignment I hope to find some common ground that we all can agree on, on what may define us and ultimately me as African. Many years ago the first few ships carrying “Indiansâ€(my forefathers) touched the soils of Africa. Though the ‘Indians’ brought along with them their inherent cultures, one thing remained peculiar to these Indians alone. This was the will to experience the diverse cultures of an alien land and to find their place in it by adjusting rather then promoting their own culture.
