What do these texts show about changing perspective?The Conciliation and The National Picture.

When viewed together The Conciliation and The National Picture reveal much about the concept of continually changing social hegemony and perspective which occurs over a period of time. Geoff Parr appropriates images from Duttereau’s The Conciliation in order to visually highlight Australian society’s change in perspective and attitudes towards Aboriginal marginalisation, due to our development from a imperialist approach to an emerging postcolonial, more humanist viewpoint.
The dominant figure in Duttereau’s painting is George Robinson, a Methodist who took upon himself the job of gathering and "conciliating" those Aboriginals still living on Tasmania after the massacre inflicted upon them by white settlers. Duttereau depicts Robinson as a saviour, his white colour of his suit has connotations of purity and virtue, while his hero status is emphasised in the composition; he stands unarmed among a gaggle of "primitive" Aboriginees hol...
