Urinary System

The urinary system is made up of the kidneys, ureters, bladder, and the urethra. Each plays an important role in helping your body to eliminate waste products in the form of urine. The main job of the kidneys is to remove wastes from the blood and return the cleaned blood back to the body. The ureters carry the waste products, as urine, from the kidneys to the bladder where it is stored until you urinate. The urinary system removes a type of waste called urea from your blood. Urea is produced when foods containing protein, such as meat, poultry, and certain vegetables, are broken down in the body. Urea is carried in the bloodstream to the kidneys.
The abdominal aorta gives rise to RENAL ARTERIES leading to the kidneys. As the renal arteries pass into the kidneys, the smallest arteries are called ARTERIOLE...
