Issues of trust, gentleness etc. to heal other’s wounds, being different, co-operation
Teenage life is one of the hardest and sometimes, most painful times as many new issues occur – leaving people struggling and confused. Enduring the pain and anger leads teenagers to change themselves and act completely different. In the novel, Touch Me, there are issues such as Nuala’s odd appearance and behaviour which hide her pain and that her odd appearance is a threat to others at first glance. Also, Xavier’s gentleness, kindness and understanding, mends wounds and creates loving relationships and Nuala tackles issues of trust as her relationship with Xavier evolves. We also learn that co-operation is the key to succeeding rather than competitiveness which is not worthwhile.
