Perception is obtaining knowledge through senses, it is to be aware of something and understand things through using your hearing and sight specifically. The ways of knowing come through logic and reasoning, language, emotion, and perception. Perception is the only way of knowing through observing and relating yourself to your surroundings. By looking at things your brain visualizes and interprets what it sees into forms of knowledge and information. For example by looking at a painting your perception will interpret the meaning of it differently than someone else’s brain might. This is similar to hearing, smelling, and other senses. With the information the knower has perceived, the brain links it with information collected through other senses to form knowledge. Perception may add to the ways of knowing, however it may also be a barrier through which the knower must emerge. It may speed up the process of knowing or slow it down.
