Throwing

The longest javelin throw by a woman is 220 feet, 1 inch by Mirela Manjani-Tzelini of Greece. This is a mere 103 feet shorter then Jan Zelezny of the Czech Republic, who holds the men’s longest javelin throw. In order to be a successful thrower, an athlete should gather information on preparing and training for the six-week season, the equipment he or she will use during the season, and some history regarding the sport of throwing.
Most people believe the sports within track and field only consist of running, but in reality, running is only half of it. Jumping and throwing make up the remaining half of track and field events. Whilst gathering information about throwing, the athlete should get an insight into what is throwing- discus, shot put, and javelin, along with preparation techniques and how the sport was started, its history.
