Theodore Roosevelt was the 26th President of the United States. A dynamic leader and a fervent nationalist, Roosevelt was one of the most popular, controversial, and important Presidents. He was a strong President that took a bold stand on military action, had and uncompromising patriotism, and a love for the great outdoors. He greatly expanded presidential power while making the United States the virtual guardian of the Western Hemisphere. Roosevelt was also the first President that became familiar with the technological revolution and the rise of commerce and industry. He increased regulation of business and encouraged growth of labor unions. Theodore fought for the need to conserve natural resources, and his policies advanced the cause of conservation.
