The War against The Economy

The costs of war are enormous not only in lives but also in dollars. Even before President Bush gave the go a head for the coalition troops to attack Iraq and put an end to Saddam Hussein’s regime, the dollars were mounting and the economy was falling.

This war has had an impact on the U.S. economy and we will continue to feel its effects for a long time, both emotionally and economically. It costs a lot of money to send troops to the Middle East, along with all of their necessary equipment and the longer the war drags out the more money it will cost. As of today, Bush is planning on asking Congress for $75 billion dollars to pay for the war. This has many American’s scared. The U.S. already has a budget deficit, which will only rise with the cost of the war. Unlike the Gulf war in 1991, the taxpayers will pay for 80 to 90% of this war.
