The Scarlet Letter

Many times, authors reflect their novels on the problems within a society, or great problems within the characteristics of the human race. By doing so, it shows the disappointment the author has in the society he or she lives in. Writing is an indirect and direct way of expressing feelings and ideas for authors. Nathaniel Hawthorne is one of such author. In his novel, The Scarlet Letter, written in 1850, Hawthorne shows the flaws within a society, as well as, flaws within the human race. The Scarlet Letter is a story about a woman, Hester Prynne, who faced many struggles in the Puritan community she lived in. She had a secret affair with the Reverend Dimmesdale, and bore a child. This was the main cause of all the problems in the novel.
