The Sacred Canopy

Society and religion are both creations of man through the process of externalization. We created them both, and they are constantly changing. Since the protestant reformation and the industrial revolution, humans are becoming increasingly secularized. Because of new sciences and technology, religion was in a, “crisis of credibility” (Berger, 127), meaning the history of religion was no longer believable to the average man.
Social forces, shape religion just as any other institution, and so it is constantly changing. Religion had to change to surviv...
