In 1512 a religious order by the name of the Franciscans was formed in the town of Assisi by a catholic named saint Francis.

The vast majority of the Franciscans, followed the example and exhortation of saint Francis him self. They promised to “obedience and reverence” to the pope and the Roman Catholic Church. In order to devoted their lives to live like Jesus living on the bare minimum.
