Hannah’s trial is unfair but the outcome of it necessary in order for her to pay for her mistakes. She made many mistakes during her life and they are all summed up in one way or another during her trial. Although the trial may have been unfair towards her, it was only because of the secrets which she chose to keep hidden and the lies in which she chose to go along with. In this way, she got what she deserved and the outcome was an essential one.

Hannah’s trial delves into some quite serious issues and some imperative questions are asked, whether or not they can be answered. An example of this is on page: 111, when Hannah says aloud to no-one in particular, “So should I have... should I have not... should I have not signed up at siemens?”.
