The purpose of filtration

The purpose of this lab was to show us how evaporationg and filtration worked with simple solutions we are exposed to every day, with that we can imagine how they work with other solutions and have a better understanding of them and the things they can go through.



Frist we put on the protecitve apron and goggles for our eyes, and since I have long hair I had to tie it back.
Second we gathered our supplies which were: two beakers (one being smaller), salt, sand, filtering paper, two wire gauses, plastic wash bottle, beaker tongs, a funnel, stirring rod. the scale was porvided at the lab along with the ring stand and the bunson burner.
Next, we massed a dry, empty 250 mm beaker and recorded the mass to two decimal places and the recorded it in our data table.
