The Problem of Suffering

If God is so good, why does He allow suffering? This question has been posed time and time again, not only to argue whether God is good, but whether God exists at all. The foundation is universal, for all in this world conclude that there is such thing as suffering. Some believe that the existence of evil and suffering in the world proves that there is no God. If a God existed that was bigger than this problem, surely He would rescue us from it, they think. If He were truly as good a God as so many claim Him to be, He would not tolerate the evil that permeates our world today. Sadly, often Christians have little to combat this seemingly debilitating question. It has shaken many people’s faith, yet it has also been a question that has led to faith in Christ. There have been those throughout history whose suffering has led to their belief in God, and whose suffering has drawn them closer to God. The question of suffering has an answer.
