Elliot’s “Wasteland” all the way through “Burnt Norton”. The concept basically deals with a supernatural seeking that goes beyond the physical and materialistic views of his “wheel”, or earth. Still point is the moment of stillness that one feels from an ecstatic event or tension. The attempt to reach the still point takes a lifetime. It is often compared with the struggle to reach God. The still point concept is explained and appears in Four Quartets. In order to reach still point, you have to see the whole vision (Cornwell 25). The whole vision is the meaning of life and can be found only at the still point (Cornwell 42). One way of doing this is by experiencing an ecstatic moment (Cornwell 25). Achieving the whole vision requires one to become aware of “the world around the corner,” which most people ignore. “The world around the corner” is where the meaning of life is to be found (Cornwell 26). ...
