The periodic table - 3 failed attemts and discussing the accepted table.

The periodic table is a table of elements arranged to show patterns of recurring chemical and physical properties. Elements, such as hydrogen, oxygen, and iron, cannot be separated into simpler substances. The periodic table provides a means of arranging all the known elements using similarities. This allows scientists to categorize them.
Many people have tried to arrange a periodic table and there are many variations. An example of a failed attempt of a periodic table is Beguyer De Chancourtois, who lived from 1820 to 1886. This Frenchman tried to use atomic weights to reveal periodicity. He drew the elements as a continuous spiral around a cylinder divided into 16 parts. Chancourtois noticed that certain of the triads appeared below one another in his spiral. The tetrad oxygen, sulfur, selenium and tellurium fell together, and he called his device the “telluric screw”. Other parts of the screw were less successful. Thus boron and aluminum come together all right but are th...
