Even though the novel Is sent in united state 1920s’ it is still relevant to us today. This is because basically the Great Gatsby is a love story, a novel about money, class, weath and poverty. Of cause the theme is based on love where people in any era can relate to. The 1029s’ was the post ww1 period when everyone was seeking entertainment. The stock exchange was booming. Dancing, parties was party of everyday life. Money was spent extravagantly on having a good time. People believed everything was possible. Money would be make, status could be gain and the future was going to be grate. Everyone believed they could be ring. This was the American dream. Gatsby’s dream symbolized the American dream. Prohibition was in forced but the black market flourish. This enables many people to make money through bootlegging. Fitzgerald implies his central charater Gatsby made his fortune in this way.
