In Pursuit of the American Dream
Love was money was a main theme in the novel The Great Gatsby by F Scott Fitzgerald there is an evident dream that even money cannot buy. This becomes reality to a character in the novel The Great Gatsby. Webster defines the American Dream as “an American social ideal that stresses egalitarianism and especially material prosperity.” This was evident in the novel because The American dream meant that one had lots of money, a large house, and beautiful wife. The main theme of the book was about Gatsby and the American Dream. The American Dream is what was supposed to give happiness to ones life. While Gatsby strives to make his dream become a reality he soon realizes that money is only a small portion of this dream.
