The “extermination” of women

In India today there is only born 100 girls for every 116 boys, and there is thirty million girls less than there should have been. This is an enormous threat to the indian society and it does not seem like there is a way out of it.

But what causes that girls, in the indian society, are worth so much less than boys that they are killed. Everybody I have heard about, who have taken their daughters lives says that it is because of the dowry, that they simply cannot pay, and that it has become more expensive to bring up girls. The dowry is the price that the girls parents pay to her husband for willing to marry her (for afterwards burning her or just letting her be his waitress). But also the matrealism has made the poor even more poor and therefore maybe contributed to the excuse that it is too expensive to have girls. Earlier killing of girls...
