This book is about a young Jewish girl who writes a diary of her experiences during World War II. From the age of thirteen to fifteen, Anne , the protagonist is in hiding from the Nazis and records her feelings about her frustrating circumstances and her fears about the war and being captured.
Anne Frank's diary was written and set in World War II during
the early 1940s. It took place in the attic of an office building in Amsterdam. The country in which all the action took place was Holland. Along with Anne's family was another family named the Van Daans who were also in hiding. They lived in a small attic which consisted of two to three rooms and a single window. Anne referred to it as the "secret annexe." For two years, those close quarters served as a shelter and protection for the families against the Nazi enemy.
