The Brady Bill Good Public Policy V. Politics

The Brady Bill is a bill that was started to reduce gun violence. The Brady Bill requires background checks, and waiting period’s priory to purchase of a gun. On March 30, 1981, John Hinckley attempted to assassinate the President, and shot President Reagan, Mr. Brady, and two law enforcement officers. Although seriously wounded by the gunshot wound to the head, James S. Brady survived. Now Mrs. Brady has been a fierce supporter of gun control. The Brady Bill may stop some people from buying guns, but there are ways around it.
The Brady Bill requires waiting periods and background checks. The waiting period can be seen as a cooling off period. If a person were going to commit a crime with a gun, they would have time to think about what they are doing; and see it is a bad ...
