Bahamas

The Bahamas are similar yet very different from the United States. There government type is constitutional parliamentary democracy. The Capital of the Bahamas is Nassau, which is located basically in the middle of all of the islands. There are 21 different districts in the Administrative divisions. Their Legal system is based on the English common law and ours.
The three branches are Executive, Legislative, and Judicial. Their Executive Branch consists of a cabinet appointed by the governor general on the prime minister’s recommendation. They don’t have elections, which is weird. Usually the monarch is hereditary, governor general appointed by the monarch; prime minister and deputy prime minister appointed by the governor general. The Legislative branch in the Bahamas is bicameral Parliament and it consists of the Senate, which is a 16-member body appointed by the governor general with the advice of the prime minister and the opposition leader for a five-year term.
