The Adventures of Lewis & Clark - An Original Play

Act 1

Meriwether Lewis and William Clark meet.

Meriwether Lewis says to Clark: As you know I used to be neighbors with our newly elected President Thomas Jefferson. Since becoming President, he has asked me to be his secretary. One of the things that he needs to know is whether or not there is a direct water route to the Pacific Ocean. He is asked me to set up an expedition to find if a water route exists.
I would like you to command the expedition together with me. I don't know long it will take. It might take years, there might be dangerous Indian tribes that we run into, and we may even get lost but the bottom line it that I think it will be a great adventure.

Clark replies I feel honored to that you've asked me to accompany you on this journey. I'm not sure if I'm making the right choice but my previous job in the military has ended and I would like to change my life so I'm going to accept and I will go with you on this great adventure.

The two shake hands.
