Tarchetti

Within the short story, “A Spirit in a Raspberry,” Tarchetti plays with the concept of androgynous bodies to express a contrast between men and women. Tarchetti uses the typical stereotypes to make this contrast more obvious to the reader, as well as, syndesthesia to portray the blending of senses, which can also be characterized as a dualism between the two characters.
“A Spirit in a Raspberry,” is a short story that conveys a theme of revenge, in particular, a woman (Clara) possesses the body of a man (Baron B.) in order to bring her murderer to justice. While in the Baron’s body Clara acts like a woman, per se. “He noticed that he was frightened by his own gun, and the roar of the shot would have terrified him” (p.44). The Baron is now scared to hunt, which was so important in his life. “How beautiful those birds are! What beautiful feathers ...
