Symbolism

In “Ind Aff or Out of Love in Sarajevo,” Fay Weldon uses the setting of the story to teach a young woman a lesson on life and love.
The unnamed young woman is narrating the story in first person. The reader gets a first-hand glimpse of the woman’s struggle amongst herself dealing with her issues on morality. The story takes place in Sarajevo, Bosnia. The woman is meeting her married professor whom she is having an affair with. Ironically, this professor is supposed to be supervising her thesis on varying concepts and morality but instead he seems to be pushing her to go against her moral values.
