Blindness and lack of rationality are two most important human weaknesses, and these characteristics were performed perfectly on different characters through out the play. The most obvious weakness shared by Orgon and Madame Pernelle is they strongly believe that Tartuffe is a holy man and most close to the God, and he is able to lead them and their family members to the right direction to the God. They both are blinded by Tartuffe’s hypocrisy that they cannot accept any warn of Tartuffe’s fake action from their family members. Unfortunately, Tartuffe, a religious hypocrite, makes use of Orgon and Madame Pernelle’s weakness to achieve his ambition. It’s ironic that Orgon, who have wealth and power, under control of Tartuffe, poor and unauthorized religious hypocrite. Orgon and Madame Pernelle are blinded...
