succes in scarface (1932)

In the gangster genre success is represent by money, power and woman. Shown by the director’s mis-en-scence. In Howard Hawks 1932 Scarface success comes at high cost. Scarface shows gangsters as powerful figure that is above the law. They are well-dressed men who can afford luxuries that normal people cant. To get to the top they had to be fearless and intense. Tony showed these characteristics and was able to gain success at the ultimate cost.
Big Loue was the first mob boss we were introduced in the film and he was, “on top of the world”. Big Loue was proud of his money and success. After a big wild party with his friends he said, “I've gotta plenty, I gotta house, I gotta automobile, I gotta nice-a girl”. He was on top of the Chicago mob and had a lot to show for it.
