Sonnet

A Story of Love



Sydney Purdue climbed up the last worn-in step of his sea blue beach house slowly lugging his easel and canvas behind him. With the smell of fresh ocean air in his nostrils and the cool breeze blowing through his blond hair, Sydney gazed out to the Atlantic for a moment just loving the way Martha’s Vineyard made him feel. Even though he had told everyone he knew he was moving to the city to get off this island and make loads of money, he knew that someday his heart would lure him back to this sea haven. He adored living and painting here and wouldn’t leave it for the world.
Sydney smiled as he reached for the black handle of the screen door and could hear the echoes of his children’s cheerful screams from inside the quaint little house. As soon as the door lightly slammed, Blake and Casey ran and tugged on their father’s khaki pant leg, giggling hysterically in the foyer. Sydney leaned his easel and canvas against the wall and scooped up the two...
