Rebellion is an important theme in Daz 4 Zoe by Robert Swindells. Many of the characters within the novel are rebelling against something. The society, in which the book is set, is discriminatory and unfair. The main characters in the book, whose causes for rebellion are described most, are Daz and Zoe who are both teenage characters. Teenagers are not the only people who rebel in the story as some adult’s rebel too. The members of the Fair organisation for example rebel against the way in which the ‘chippies’ are discriminated against and the members of the Dred organisation rebel for the same reason The different characters rebel in different ways with varying results however their motives and actions all bring alive to the reader the writers messages about what could happen in the future.
