Social responsibility is a shared attitude amongst all employees of the business toward the continued health and viability of the environment and the business. Policies and procedure are in place that protect stakeholders from any adverse effects of the business operations (Kirkley, personal communication ,15 February,2003).

¡°To some, social responsibility might be evidenced by a company¡¯s willingness to court costs that do not relate directly to the company¡¯s production of goods and services. To others, the acceptance of such costs would be seen as a violation of social responsibility¡±(Aldag&Stearns, 1991.p.112).
