Slavery

Unfortunately, slavery grew to be very popular in the17th century in the American colonies. At first it wasn’t that popular but as time progressed so did slavery.
In the beginning of the 1600’s colonist relied mainly on indentured servants. Black slaves were still too expensive and weren’t quite necessary yet. There were mainly only black slaves in the Southern colonies were they were used to work on plantations. Indentured servants were more popular and easier to obtain.
