World War II was a horrific war. Many countries were

Involved in the war. Many thousands of people were brutally

tortured and, killed during the war.

Adolph Hitler was a dictator of Germany. He was

demanding land from other countries and this is one thing that

started the war. In September 1939 Germany invaded Poland.

Hitler was quoted as saying, ”I will leave no one alive to

triumph over Germany.” In 1941 Germany attacked Russia.

Germany made attacks against other countries. The countries

causing trouble was the Axis Powers. They wanted to rule the

world. They were Italy, Germany, and Japan. The U.S. was not

involved in the war just yet.

Hitler hated other races of people, especially the Jewish

people. He thought they were inferior to his race. Adolph

Hitler was personally responsible for killing six million Jews

during this time. This became known as the Holocaust.
