Gregor's life and its tragic outcome became the turning point of the story. Strange chain of events took place throughout the book, which resulted in Gregor "losing" his family. It definitely was a devastating shock to wake up and realize you are no longer human. "…He found himself changed in his bed into a monstrous vermin."
