Rosa Parks was extremely tired of being segregated as a African- American and felt that is she stayed strong she could get something accomplished. One day after sewing in a local department store she took an empty seat in the “colored” section of the buss as the “white section filled up the driver ordered Parks to give up her seat on December 1, 1955 She refused and was arrested and jailed. While Parks was the initiator of the 381 day Montgomery Alabama buss boycott. This was one of the most successful non-violent protests in American history.
