A Person at the Beach
It was a hot summer afternoon. The sun glared at me as I sat in the blistering hot sand and looked out into the ocean. The dazzling sun sparkled over the water as the waves crested and crashed into one another. The water near the shore was covered with foam and bubbles from the rumbling waves. As I observed all the people around me, I came to find a lonely old man sitting in the sand. He was thin, short, and black. He was unshaven with a scraggly beard, and his skin was tough and rugged looking. His black corduroy jacket was dirty. His sandy fluorescent orange pants were too short in length. He wore a pair of old house slippers that seemed to have been thrown out from one of the surrounding homes. As I got closer to him, I smelled the aroma of his alcoholic breath. Along with his breath, his eyes were glazed over, watery, and bloodshot red. It was clear that he had been drinking.
