Religion is a part of every society in the world. It influences the people, the customs, the laws, and even the literature. Because religion deals with the inner most feelings and beliefs, it is often used as a background of influences of characters in literature. From the beginning of time, to the present day, the world would be nothing without religion. Religion is the basis to everything. Religion influenced history and literature from the Anglo-Saxon period to the Renaissance.
The Anglo-Saxons were a very isolated group. The group consisted of the Angels and the Saxons both from Germany, and the Jutes from Denmark. The group teamed up to conquer a place by the name of “Engla Land,” which was later changed to “England” because of the dominated language of the Angles.
