Refridgerator recycling

ABSTRACT

The refrigerator is a widely used domestic appliance, with every household generally possessing at least one unit.

With the vast amount of fridge units in circulation, when users decide to upgrade or renew their fridge a huge problem is presented in terms of the waste produced by the unused fridges.

The component causing the most problems environmentally would be the main body/shell of the fridge unit, due to its size and hazardous materials contained within the insulation foam inside the body/shell.

This report evaluates different paths and there value in reducing the effect of this waste both economically and environmentally. Two paths explored are recycling and reusing.
