Fairytales, Myths and Legends

Students will be listening and reading from a range of narratives by different authors. Reading one narrative a number of times so that they become familiar with its structure and content.

There will be opportunities for students to talk about and retell parts of narratives they have heard and read. Students will develop the ability to identify the stages of a narrative and will be able to give reasons for their decisions. There is a need for careful planning and preparation for independent writing at this stage.

Students will be encouraged to express attitudes and feelings about the problems characters’ face.
