Racism

According to Beverly Daniel Tatum, “prejudice is a preconceived judgment or opinion, usually based on limited information” while she agrees with Wellman that racism is a “system of advantage based on race.” And according to Webster’s college dictionary prejudice is “an unfavorable opinion or feeling formed beforehand or without knowledge, thought or reason” and racism is “a belief that race is the primary determinant of human traits and capacities and that racial differences produce an inherent superiority of a particular race.”
Both authors have a distinct definition between prejudice and racism, however, I like many other students never realized the difference from these words. I can only speak for myself, but I believe that many students have never been taught about racism, sexism, and all the other isms. Therefore, I believe the number one most important thing a college or university...
