A Tragedy Waiting to Happen
The results of this horrible disaster left her disfigured. Her face will never look the same, nor will she ever have the every-day luxury of having a full head of hair again. She is not ashamed of her disfigurements, though; she does not conceal it because she wants to encourage people to question her about what happened, so she can tell her story… She was a Resident’s Assistant at Seton Hall University, awoken on a Wednesday night in January of 2000 to a fire alarm. She was not worried, though, because it was not uncommon for this particular university to have false fire alarms go off. After she had woken up, she did what she was supposed to do as an R.A. and investigated the situation. When she shockingly found definite signs of a fire that happened to be growing very rapidly, she immediately notified public safety.
