But...if it's real, you'll feel it." - Kid Rock The movie "Pleasentville" is about change and trying to accept it. The director uses both allusion and color to show this. "Pleasentville" discusses changes to society. It suggests that, over time, we have replaced "pleasentness" with knowledge. We don't know what is next but we prefer to change to stagnation. It is better to go forward then to go back. While color is an obvious force in this movie, the use of allusion is just as effective. The main allusion in "Pleasentville" is the Garden of Eden. Just like in the Garden of Eden, Lovers' Lane symbolizes what perfect should be like. Along with the vibrante colors, comes precise examples of what was in this fantasy lifestyle.
