Piano

Gracefully entering the stage area to a round of applause, Theresa Walters thanked the audience and gave a short introduction and background on the piece, by Sergey Rachmaninoff, she was about to perform on the evening of Friday, October 17 2003. The mood was one of anticipation as all eyes and ears were on Ms. Walters. When she had finished her opening remarks she sat motionless, focusing and composing herself on the piano bench, preparing to play.

She began with the first movement of her opening piece, Concerto No. 2 in C Minor, Op 18, Moderato: Allegro. Beginning with a chord and single note combination she seamlessly moved into rambling melodies with a strong base note accompaniment. Moving through the piece she utilized both registers repeating both simple and complex rhythm patterns. Moving along she progressively worked around the keyboard, gravitating to the right side.
