Oganizational Behavior

The term Organizational Behavior (OB) refers to the way in which people behave in an organization, and how that behavior affects your organization, either positively or negatively. A formal definition is as follows, “Organizational Behavior is a field of study that investigates the impact individuals, groups, and structure have on behavior within organizations for the purpose of applying such knowledge towards improving an organization’s effectiveness.” (Robbins, 2001) It is something that managers use to measure the effectiveness of their employees. Up until fairly recently, I don’t believe there was a precise term for it.
Managers have always needed a way in which to measure their workers. If they didn’t, how would they know whether they were doing the job set out for them?
