Oedipus and Antigone

The concept of blindness is a major theme portrayed in the chronicles of Oedipus the King and Antigone. Creon and Oedipus were both blind in similar and contrasting ways, illustrated literally and figuratively. While reading the stories, the idea of blindness is projected often to elaborate on the description of these two characters.
Tiresias sums up the entire play of Oedipus the King in one line, “I say that you and your most dearly loved are wrapped together in a hideous sin, blind to the horror of it.”(Episode 1- page 21) Oedipus was unknowingly blind to his past. All of his life he thought that he was the son of old Polybus, and he never questioned that fact. Upon learning that he was not really the son of Polybus, he continued questioning the messenger, blind to the truth and of his actions.
Oedipus preached to the people of Thebes how important it was that they find the murderer of the late King. He states that if the guilty party is within his own household, he too...
