Obsession, Sadism, and Revenge Obsession, Revenge, and Sadism In today’s society where murder and corruption are commonplace, many people do not think about obsession, sadism and revenge. These things lead up to a total corruption of morals and the destruction of innocent people. In 1847, when Wuthering Heights, was published people regarded it as “...excessively morbid, violent, and indelicate.†( Bloom’s Notes pg. 9). Heathcliff’s obsession with Catherine Earnshaw began at a very early age.
