O brother

Somewhere in the state of Mississippi during the Depression of the 1930s, the sun beats down on a chain gang who strike rocks in time to the song they sing. Three of the convicts have escaped and the trio are now making their way across a field as fast as their shackles will allow them to go. They stumble up to a train and try to board one of the open freight carriages. Fast-talking Ulysses Everett McGill manages to jump on, only to be confronted by a row of astonished faces. Simple Delmar follows closely behind and for a moment, it looks like they will make it - Pete, however, finally gives up and the others are wrenched off the train by their linking chains. Evidently, the authorities are hot on their tails, so the gang take the only option available to them - a slow ride on a flat car with an old man. Fortunately for them, the man is blind and cannot see that they are convicts. They are surprised then, when he starts to predict what will happen to these "men in chains". It seems tha...
